WELCOME
The usefulness of a reference book does not need much explanation, especially when it comes to complex statistical data on immigration, a phenomenon which has constantly increased in Italy over the past decades.
This is the area of specialization of the Statistical Dossier on Immigration, an annual report edited by Caritas and Migrantes Foundation, which are pastoral structures of the Italian Episcopal Conference.
The dossier, which was first published in 1991, examines various aspects on the basis of a wide range of statistics: the international context; migration flows and residing people; the world of work; regional contexts; refugees and the reception system.
National editors work at the IDOS Study and Research Center, whereas regional editors work at the various Caritas and Migrantes offices. Their efforts consists in combining the thoroughness of the treatise and the simplicity in the writing in order to meet the needs of various categories, from public officials to social workers, from students to researchers, from immigrants to citizens from other countries interested in the Italian situation.
By means of abstracts, this website shows the situation of migration as detected year after year, offering an overview of complementary publications by Idos Editions, which are available upon request.
In particular, great emphasis is devoted to two other annual reports: the Roman Observatory on Migration, sponsored by Caritas, the Chamber of Commerce and the Province of Rome, and the Report on Italians in the World, sponsored by the Migrantes Foundation.
